Variables of the USER type contain the selected User id so it can be used in the single user picker types of fields:

  • Reporter

  • AssigneePeople (the multiple user picker field)

To create a USER type of variable click the Add button in the Variables section of the Hierarchy and then click the type selector and elect the USER item.
