Note

The ability to edit templates depends on your permissions.

We have two ways of editing a Template.

  1. Editing a Template from the Create / Edit Issue dialog - allows you to edit a Template in a quick way, from Create Issue Dialog, Create Sub-task Dialog and Edit Issue Dialog. Use this approach, if you want to edit a Template that created for the sub-task.

  2. Editing a Template from the Manage Templates page - allows you to edit a Template, from Manage Template page, that helps you view and change all the available Templates in a quick way.

Click on the Template you'd like to edit to proceed to the Edit Template dialog:

...

In this dialog you can directly change Template name, Template Description, Tags, Available for, Scope, and Owner fields only!

We want you to have as much control over Templates as possible while allowing you the freedom to change the issues whenever you need.

Tip

Thus Templates only remember the state of the issue when they were being created and are not updated automatically if the original issue has been changed.

If you want to change the values that Template will fill in the fields you need to change the original issue first and then update the state of the Template via the “Sync with” button.

Click here to go to the issue that is being used as a Template.

...

Once all the changes you wanted are done you can press the “Sync with {ISSUE_KEY}” - key of the issue that is being used as a Template - button.

Then you can check the difference between the current state of the Template and the issue it originated from by clicking on the “Compare with the issue” button.

...

If you are sure you want to update the Template → click on the “Save” button at the bottom of the dialog.
