Apply Link Template

A Link Template allows you to quickly associate relevant links with Jira issues or templates, ensuring a seamless workflow. You can apply a Link Template to:

  • An existing Jira Issue

  • A Template (during creation or editing)



Apply Link Template to an existing Jira Issue

If you want to apply a Link Template directly to an issue without using a template, follow these steps:

  1. Locate the Link Template you want to apply.

  2. Click the Apply button (▶️) next to the template.

  3. Select the Jira issue where the template should be applied.

  4. Click Apply to confirm.

  5. A confirmation message will appear, and the links will be added to the selected Jira issue.

The selected issue will now include the predefined web links from the applied Link Template.

Apply Link Template to Template

Prerequisites:

Before applying a Link Template, ensure that:

  • You have already created a Link Template. If not, follow this guide to create one.

  • You have a Template available for applying the Link Template. If needed, refer to this guide to create or edit a template.

Apply the Link Template to the Template from the ‘Create Template’ dialog

To apply the Link Template to a Template, follow these steps :

  1. Create the Link Template that you want to use in the Template

  2. Open the ‘Manage Templates’ page

  3. Click the ‘Add Template’ button

  4. Fill in all required fields

Follow this guide to create a Template

  1. Click on the ‘Link Template’ field

  2. Select the Link Template(s) that you need to add to the Template

  3. Click the ‘Create’ button

Now the Link Template was added to the Template. After applying the Template the Links will be applied automatically to the Created Jira Issue.

Apply the Link Template to the Template from the ‘Edit Template’ dialog

To apply the Link Template to the Template:

  1. Create the Link Template that you want to use in the Template

  2. Open the ‘Manage Templates’ page

  3. Click the Template name in the ‘Name’ column

  4. Click on the ‘Link Template’ field

  5. Select the Link Template(s) that you need to add to the Template

  6. Click the ‘Update’ button

Now the Link Template was added to the Template. After applying the Template the Link Template will be applied automatically to the Created Jira Issue.
